Tuffalm/Malga Tuff and the Lake of Fie'/ Voelser Weiher

Tuffalm/ Malga Tuff and the lake of Voels am Schlern/ Fie' allo Scillar lie in the breathtaking and beautiful Seiser Alm Nature Park/ Scillar Nature Park. You will be spoilt by a choice of many  hiking paths for every family. It's our favourite destination both, in summer and in winter. There are many things to do on offer. In summer you can go walking or pony riding or relax near the lake where you can go for a swim. In winter the lake becomes an ice-skating place, or you can go up to Tuffalm/ Malga Tuff from where you can get the sledges to go down back to the lake of Fie'/ Voelser Weiher. You will find that all the paths are well maintained even in winter and good walking boots will suffice.

We usually leave our car at the car park near the lake of Voels am Schlern/ Fie' allo Scillar at 1.036m (last time we've been there it cost 3 euros per day). From there we first walk to the lake and have lunch at the restaurant Voelser Weiher. In summer you can swim here, have an ice cream or rent a boat (4 euros for half an hour or 6 euros for one hour). Opposite the restaurant there is another little house with a jetty where you can swim or try the nearby Kneipp footbath (it's something you often see in hotel spas; a walk on little stones with jets of cold water). From the lake we follow the path to the Tuffalm at 1.207m and we pass be the second, bigger lake.

You will have a choice of two paths. An easy one, suitable even for a pushchair (although the path obviously goes gently upwards) or a slightly shorter path but more difficult as it's steeper. The easy path is basically a bridleway and it takes about 1h 15 mins, the more difficult path is a path through the forest and it takes 45 mins, follow the signs for Wanderweg .Nr1. In summer Tuffalm/ Malga Tuff offers horse carriage rides up to the refuge (the cost is 30 euros).
Tuffalm is also  within an easy walk from Kastelruth/Castelrotto (about 2 hrs 30 mins) and from Seis am Schlern/ Siusi allo Scillar (about 2 hours).

The paths are well signposted

Once there you will have a splendid panorama view of the surrounding mountains, you may stop for tea and some cakes and your children will find a nice but simple playground and a mini zoo. Tuffalm/ Malga Tuff  was voted the most beautiful refuge by the Dolomiten magazine in 2007.
